Lifestyle® system expansion became easy with the 2004 introduction of Bose® link, a seamless, wired connection method. An even easier option, expansion without running new room-to-room wires, becomes a reality with the Bose® link AL8 wireless home-wide audio link. Though other wireless home-based communication technologies are available, the commonly used standards, such as 802.11b, are not designed to deliver the audio quality and controls required for Lifestyle® system expansion. Using Bose proprietary FreeField® circuitry, the Bose® link AL8 wireless homewide audio link operates without the performance limitations usually associated with other wireless systems.To expand a Lifestyle® system with the Bose® link AL8 wireless home-wide audio link, the user simply connects an AL8 transmitter to the Lifestyle® media center and an AR1 receiver to a second-room speaker system, such as a RoomMate® music system or a 3·2·1 Series II home entertainment system.
